Laryngeal paralysis

Symptoms: voice change, laryngeal stridor, dry cough, dyspnea exercise intolerance, discomfort

Cause: interruption of the innervation of the intrinsic laryngeal muscles that leads to the airway obstruction. Congenital dissorder (Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Saint Bernards, Siberian Huskies)

Duration: months to years

First aid: resting

Urgency: one or two days (sometimes immediately)

Prevention: none

 Treatment: surgical, soft palatable diet

Therapy success: 40 to 70%

Convalescence: slow (months)
